Big Update

Well, he's had experience in both, and came recommended. He was also building a 60-70' sailboat for himself... anyways.

It turns out it was all somewhat of a pointless debate...
1) the AC out actually goes out the cockpit drain and not the exhaust - so no engine worries as long as I close the sea-cock before starting the engine.
2) The new 2' of 1" hose that runs from the through-hull to the strainer was FULL of barnacles growing inside. I had to bend the hose to break them loose and then flush it with the water hose, pulled out about a pint of debris!

Now that it's all cleared out, the system runs so much better and full-stream at the source for the AC pump. I know it's not kosher, but I feel better only worrying about 2-through hulls instead of 5 if done as normal. That being said, I'll probably move the intake to the sump next haul out so it's more accessible and I can put a proper fitting on it.

Anyways, thank you everyone for your help, it's been a frustrating project.
