AC Circuit Breaker

I have noticed a penchant for the AC circuit breaker on my 1987 H31 to be easily activated. Combinations of accessories which caused no problems on my old 1983 Catalina 25 seem too much for the Hunter. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Shotgun or Troubleshoot...a dilemma

On the sketchy information given ... the problem could be anywhere in the circuit. It could be the CB has aged (corrosion or sensitized?), wiring incorrectly sized for load, loose connection, wire corrosion, or an appliance failing. Depending on your level of electrical knowledge I would suggest either of the following courses of action. 1. Shotgun approach - a. remove AC power b. check for corrosion of CB or wiring c. replace CB 2. Troubleshoot ... 1. determine AC load with ammeter... i.e. is it a valid CB trip? a. yes, determine current draw of each appliance to and develop a AC appliance usage matrix b. no, remove AC power replace CB

Weaker breaker...

Doug... I just replaced mine, a 30 amps double breaker after checking it and finding that anything over a couple (2) amps did trigger it. Can't get the double unit so I ganged two of them and I kind like it beter since now I have control over both lines. But the point is, Doug, that breakers DO get bad... Good luck... Replaced our a while back

I assume you mean the "AC Main" breaker. Ours was tripping and I replaced it. No more trips. One problem. Ours was/is an Airpax brand breaker and it had an extra "auxillary" connection on it for a "reversed polarity" indicator on the power panel. That breaker was way more than one w/o the "aux" connection. We got the less expensive one and we use a little reverse polarity detector that plugs into any AC socket. I'd like to fine one of the breakers with the "aux" connector. Any ideas?
