AC Ammeter?

Any one add an AC Ammeter to your boat? I looked at the PanelTronics AC instrument cluster, but at 8.5" high it is a bit big for the remaining room at the nav table, unless I put it on the left hand side. I'd like something smaller, and easily installed. Cost? Model? Installation issues? Was the meter self contained, or did it require additional hardware? Lots of questions:) Thank in advance! amp meter

scott there is a fixed loop that will go around the largest positive wire feeding the panel with a set of small wires that go to the meter. no problem to install.

Link 2000.

If you have an inverter then the Link 1000/2000/2000R series can give you what you want. I saved a bundle by getting mine from E-Bay. I turn on the inverter(from the Link panel) and then check Amps as I turn on various 110v appliances. I can do this from both battery banks. These are DC amps of course. One difference is that my H37C had no meters whereas yours probably has more than you need. The Link 2000 may have some other advantages though. It will display amp/hours remaining for example. It is also small, about 4" x 6".

Ken, what model?

Ken, Thanks for the reply. What model did you install? I'm primarily interested in tracking usage at the dock. We will be going from 50 AMP service to 30 AMP service at a new marina in a few months and want to know exactly the load is at a glance. We could easily be pushing the limits, and don't want to depend on the circuit breakers :) Thanks again, Scott
