Took my Pearson 30 out for a sail to the islands today. Winds NE 8 to10 got up to about 70 or 75 by midday. Wind died down to almost nothing on the way back in but i was determined to sail anyway. 36 miles overall and a little over 8 hours under sail.

That sounds awsome wish I could have been there with you. My best over all sail so far"in my short 2 years of sailing" has to be the 6 hours we spent sailing off of the outer banks, just PERFECT. Alan

Went for a sail yesterday. Spent the night at a nearby island. Winds 10-15 all night with temps in the 30s. Winds at 20 knots on the sail back today. Temps in the high 40s with some sun. Just being on the boat was enough for us.

What if any did you use for heat on your overnite in the cold? My girls want to sleep out but we are around 45deg at nite now and my cat 22 is small, I would be fine but they will freeze and want to go home in the middle of the nite. Alan

My wife, a buddy of ours and our dog went out on Erie today, east of Cleveland. Winds were 5 to 10 and had turned out of the North, but the chop wasn't much. Ghosted back to the dock as the motor wouldn't restart on the way in. Didn't matter, perfect fall day. If my season ends that way, I can live with it.

Re: Tim

I used a portable heater to take the edge off before bed. It is called a buddy heater(made by Mr. Heater) and can be found at Lowes, Walmart, Cabella, etc. It has a low oxygen sensor and I have a seperate CO detector. I would then put the heater out in the cockpit while we slept. In the morning I brought it back in to heat the cabin while we got up. I was able to get the cabin up above 60 fairly quickly.

Re: Tim

Returned today from 3 days/ 2 nights on Cat Island, MS. Upper 40's at night and mid 70s's in the day. Good wind going and back. Didn't use a heater at night. Sleeping bag was enough. I do have a little propane heater to take the edge off when needed.
