Above Deck Rode Storage

Not really a personal favorite, it's a necessity.

We were up in the California Delta many years ago on our C25, just my daughter and me. We caught a plastic bag on our outboard Mercury 7.5 hp engine and were drifting right to the edge of a levee with BIG rocks.

I asked my daughter to drop the anchor and she went forward and lifted it off the hook we used for the Danforth and the boat was saved. She was, like, maybe all of 12 years old at the time.

EVERY time we use the boat I go up to the bow, and unlock the anchor locker.

Ya just never know.

If you have to do ANYTHING more than drop the anchor, you are simply NOT properly prepared.

Well then, back to square one.

I don't have an anchor locker, but I do have that tiny little space up in the bow. I have a chain pipe, and a hole for a sanitation pumpout hose that runs to the bilge area at the aft end of the v-berth. I could store the rode there and just deal with all the water that would enter thru the chain pipe and on the rode, that does not have a drain to get rid of it.

Somebody please just tell me what to do. I'm so-o-o- confused!

Neat engineering on the cheap Gorilla, will probably work well in your situation and environment. Sum that cooler idea is awesome, I have a soft side lined cooler sitting in the garage now that is going to be re-purposed tomorrow morning when I get back from the airport
