Fresh water tank

Under the v-birth. The fill cap is in the bottom of the anchor locker.

FYI -tankage

The waste holding tank is under aft cabin sole and fuel tank is under stb. lazarette sole, both molded into hull. If you ever have to replace tanks, you have to cut the top out and drop in an aftermarket tank.

Here's a useful diagram of boat

and a number of other useful diagrams may be found in the "Reference" section of this site. You may also be interested in knowing that an online support group has been established at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/huntertwentyeightfive/ The H28.5 is a great boat. Good luck with it!

It's as if...

...Hunter didn't want us to access the tank. I pulled out the boards and stored them so I can gain easier access to see the water level and look for leaks in and around, or from, the tank.

28.5 tanks

On my 87 model, the holding tank is under the aft berth, not the sole. Both tanks (fresh water and holding) have removable covers for access. The fuel tank is also removable on mine as well.

'87 a good year

'87 must have been the best year for 28.5 as mine was exactly like Dave's in the previous post. Water and holding under removable panels and fuel in back of water heater, aft in center rear of starboard lazerette, held down with strapping and very removable.

"REMOVABLE TANK LID"

I'll warn you from personal experience that although the water and waste lids have screws, Hunter also used an adhesive as a caulk and you may end up tearing the lid apart to get it off. Better off using one of those round access plates cut into the lid. A 1986 I saw had a much differnt setup for its fuel tank and seemed to have a 2 part removable floor over a tank and muffler. I don't know if that was an owner improvement or not.
