Hello all.
New to this forum, as a previous owner of 'Thumper', a 1984 CA built Catalina 27. Here is my response to the original post (now closed) from October 2010 to Ramjet:

Hello
As I'm sure you have moved onto other boats, as the 2nd owner of 'Thumper', I can give you any info that you may wish. I bought the boat from a client of Cooper Yacht Charters in Vancouver, BC in the mid 90's.
After a 10k refit (plus 3 months of sweat equity) I put the boat back into the charter fleet. My frst customer ran the boat aground on Bowen Island due to his stupidity.
After repairs the boat still almost paid for itself in the 1st year. (8.5k$ versus the 10k I bought the boat for)
On the beginning of the 2nd year of ownership, I cancelled my contract with Cooper and used her until the early 2000's as a private yacht.
Numerous additions were added such as a Gennaker, The outboard bracket, an EPIRB, a dinghy and other comforts to make the boat as safe and comfortable.
In 2002 or 2003, I sold the boat to a couple who had moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver, They fell in love with the boat, and it was sold to them for 14k$ CDN.
They were intending to keep the boat at Mosquito Creek Marina in North Vancouver.

When I read your post, I was shocked, as the vessel was in great condition (that also meant having the sign painter who painted the rabbit logo on the bow to come out of retirement to touch up his work)

I feel really bad that the owners of the boat allowed it to get to such a sorry state. The posts about suicide may have had something to do with a vessel with a simular name but not this boat (I'm quite sure).

If you get this message please give me a reply.
