Oday 222 Dighton, Ma.
This was one of my first modifications and I can't claim it as one that I thought up, as I obtained it from an old O'Day Newsletter that one of the secretaries at the O'Day plant in Fall River Ma., used to send out free to anyone who owned an O'Day boat, new or used. People would write in and send pictures of the little changes that they made to their boats. This one involved cutting the cover to the Head, and adding a couple of hinges, which would allow the cover to lay flat on "V" berth mattresses. This was a lot more comfortable than having the cover against your back when you were using the head. The cut needs to be made about 1/2 inch or so from the top of the mattresses, so that the lid will lay flat on the mattresses. A couple of Stainless Steel hinges and screws make it very operable.

So is that double hinged with another set of hinges at the extreme forward end? On my Sundance 20, the insert actually doubles as the salon table when lifted out and placed on a strut over the swing keel. It has no hinges whatsoever.
