In any case, it appears that the tank for the forward head is a higher capacity than the tank for the aft head. This is disappointing because, if the forward head were converted into a hanging locker, the larger of the two tanks would be forfeited.
The aft tank is made up from a void in the fiberglass grid liner directly under the nav station. The lid is prone to leak but is repairable.
The forward tank is made from another fiberglass void under the forward end of the v-berth. In my opinion the forward head is an abomination and should be removed and used as you suggest (we did.)
In 14 years I have not seen any reliable indication of capacities but I'd estimate each to be in the 15-20 gallon range.
There are lots of places to put an additional waste tank for the aft head but we've never had a need to do so.
