Ericson 29 Southport..
I'm going to order a Beckson portlight from here, and I was wondering if anybody dealt with these. The self drain model does as it's stated I guess, but due to the angled spigot, it can't be through bolted. This is going to be a near vertical install, and I think it would look in poor form to put screws in it.
The Rain drain model CAN be through bolted, but I THINK it's for a more radical angle. But can it be used in the vertical orientation, and still be acceptable?
(Oh yeah, it's going in the cockpit well, for more light in the aft "state room").
Not a C22.
Am I over thinking a stupid portlight?

(Along with everything else)..

Check the MacGregor forum. A couple guys have done it there.
Sorry I don't have a link to one directly.
Good luck.

Chris, that's exactly what our C34s have, in fact, we have two Beckson rain drains in the cockpit for just that purpose. They work great and the screws come in from the inside - I don't recall screws outside at all. No need to thru bolt in that location.

Call Beckson if you are unsure. The person I talked to was really helpful and informative. He had been with the company from the beginning and was able to give me the whole history of their port development. If you look at the installation manual they use ss barrel nuts that run through the port from the inside to the yoohooty ring on the out side. You have to order the correct length.
