a non starter

I motored to the fuel dock today and when I turned the key to
leave, ... silence. I think I may have finally turned the key instead
of shutting off the fuel to kill the engine, but I just don't
remember. If that's what I did, how do I trouble shoot and what is
the fix? Thanks

Hi.
Turning the key off - if wired "normally" - wouldnt have affected the
engine at all..

It certainly wouldnt have stopped it unless you have an electrical
cutoff wired up??
(Instead of the conventional tee-bar that you pull to stop the engine.)

Have you checked that the battery is charged and that the connections to
the starter motor are ok?

A cheap multimeter is your best friend...

Craig, I had similar problems several times this season. Once it turned
out to be one of the battery switches (needed replacement). Another time
it turned out to be corrosion or loose conection on the wiring leading
from the ignition switch to a bus bar. I am not an electrician. I just
diagnosed by trial and error. Good luck. Trev V-2915

Played hooky today and went to the boat. Found the problem quickly,
loose connection, but others as well, so now I'm thinking I should
just go ahead and begin a major electrical clean-up. It is something I
have put off for perhaps too long. Thanks for your suggestions.
