well, the one dissapointment with my O'Day 27 is the lack of cabin woodwork, and with the winter soon upon us plenty of time to customize. I was looking for misc. parts and came upon "D & R marine inc. (O"Day parts) in his parts list, is listed "Teak & Holly sole" now to date I have not contacted D & R marine, but I am courious if anyone else has thought of or if anyone has done this, if so could you share some info and if you think I'm going off in the wrong direction I'd enjoy those comments as well. Thanks

Teaked floor to ceiling

The floor in my 1974 27' is glass (except for the teak bilge cover), but the walls are covered throughout up to the ceiling with teak. To what extent do you have teak? JimC

Jim, I dont know if previous owners removed Teak or not. the only teak on board are the grab rails, gally rails & doors, the head door and misc add-ons, oh the table as well. so a rather stark envioroment. But I will say the previous owner did a good job, it looked nice enough for my wife to say OK. I have seen other 27's with / without much Teak so I really dont know if it was added along the way. can you share some photos to give me an idea? thanks

new teak

My O'Day 23 had old carpeting on the floor and a laminated table, both in bad condition. I bought non-milled teak from St. Angelo Hardwoods in Bristol R.I. (401-253-3620) and made a teak floor and new tabletop. It changes the cabin "look" to feel "warmer" and "friendlier".

RichJ - I hope the PO didn't get "teaked off"

Send me your email and I'll send you some pictures. My interior is a beautiful light teak. I just bought the boat, so I don't know if it was a custom job or what, but it is nice. Contact me at: jlcook@swbell.net and jlcook@delmar.edu It may take me till this weekend to scan and send them.

My 272 has lots of wood. Help with stuffing box

I'm sorry I don't know much about interior wood work. My 272 is a 1987 model and has teak trim and veneer table and paneling throughout. Seems all that one would want. Can you help me with info about where to find and how accsess the stuffing bvox. I am assuming one has to temove the heavy wall hose to see tha shaft which rides inside the shaft log. It was not clearly indicated in the manual. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
