Oday 222 Dighton, Ma.
It seems that every year I need to make a change or do some kind of a modification to my O'Day 222. The old boat has become a mongrel through the years. I guess that you can call it an O'Day 222 with O'Day 25 parts. This year, I removed every stick of wood from the inside of the cabin including the galley cabinet and the three bulkheads. After seeing pictures of Chuck Rothert's 222 cabin in "Get Away" with it's beautiful dark red Mahogany color, I got a little jealous and decided to do my boat with it too. It took a while to do all the sanding, staining, and varnishing, but it was well worth the effort that I put into it. It's not what I'd call a real professional job, but it's good enough for government work, and it doesn't look too bad from a distance. I rebuilt my forward hatch, and had North Sails, (Sails Direct) repair my torn Mainsail. So, I'm pretty much all set for next year. The boat is all covered for the long winter's sleep, and I can go back to doing what I do best,-- which is absolutely nothing. Anyway, I still have my kayak and there's still some good weather left for paddling and beach combing on the other side of the river with my First Mate, Penelope.
