I'm new to this site but I've enjoyed everyones' comments and thoughts. I've just purchased a 1984 Catalina 30. She's in great shape but I have one question. The boat hast a slight lean to her port side. The previous owner said this was common in the catalina 30s. I have taken all of the extra gear off her and she still leans. Does anyone have a similar problem or what should I be aware of? It's not very much but it kind of bugs me. Thanks.

Port list is endemic to almost all Catalinas. Our 34s have it, too. You could do a search on "port list" I believe it's been discussed here before. Also discussed at the C30 Association website. Solution: Easy!!! --- more beer or batteries on starboard.

My 270 lists to port (water tank, batteries, icebox, water heater) a friends' Capri came with 2 large bricks of lead bullets encased in resin with Catalina logos on the starboard side, now I have one.
And we keep suggesting it would be more useful to make that lead into a battery!

Aha, if you add both the beer AND the battery you can keep the beer colder longer if you have a fridge!
I have seen this post a bunch of times, so while doing a rehab on my old 1976 C 30 I am going to move my batteries under the nav station. I'm also moving all of the electrical panels, switches, etc. to just above the table, like the newer boats. I cut the slanted table down so it's flat, and will build a "box" above to mount everything in. Hopefully this will correct the problem, and I will never even have to experience it first hand!
Yep...I have the port lisp, as does my Uncle's Catalina 34. It is not a big issue at all, it is just a Catalina thing.
It's no mystery when you consider all the cabinet work, equipment and facilities that are on the port side. You'll also find that, when under power, it will pull to port. This is a byproduct of what is known as prop walk.
After a while you won't notice either of these personality quirks and you'll be one of the first to answer next time someone posts the same question.
