So, I noticed there was some unused space under the starboard side of the V berth, here's what I did;
First I drilled a test hole to have a look and make sure I was not going to saw into hoses, wires or out of the hull. After ensuring that all was good, I centered my template, and started sawing away.
Then I installed the door casing, and then the door and hinges.
end result, it looks like it has always been there, and I have got access to more storage, measured from the top of the door, it is 14 inches to the hull, at the bottom it is 8 inches, fore and aft to the main bulkhead it is 20 inches, more if you go all the way to the water tank.
If I was doing it again, I would have made my test hole higher, so I could have used 8 inches of the scrap fiberglass as a base for the storage area, I may still do this, just patching up the hole, and re sawing, also I would have gotten left hand hinges, but the only door available was right hand, works anyway.
