In response to seeing all these this guy just up and bought a boat and sails the world posts at various times, I thought this would be of interest to folks.
The pic is of Minnesota's own Gerry Spiess on Yankee Girl. His home built 10 footer.
Here is a link to a small Wikipedia page. He solo sailed the Atlantic in 1979 and the Pacific in 1981. Crossed them both. Here's a link to a book about it. He is pretty humble, no real fan fare. He still comes in to a local Boat Shop every now and then.
