A hammer is a good tool

but not for crimping battery lugs. Don’t know how long this has been there but a hammer doesn’t make for good crimps!!!

Found this when changing house batteries. It was on one of the cross ties between the 6V batteries.

Now how many more are like this???

Looks good to me, only missing the cable. Just trim a few extra wire strands off and a 2/0 will fit right in there.

Was this the boat you bought from an Electrical engineer... Please,,, Say it isn't so.
I don’t know if the VP of RD is a EE. I also don’t know if he did the battery cable or a P.P.O. or a yard ape. I was using the cable to lift the battery out of the hole—- of course it put a dent in the teal and holly floor. The new GC2’s I bought have built in pads to put lifting hooks in. The old ones nothing.

Not the pretty like new Teak&Holly. Oh the horror. Glad you found some good batteries to empower Mahalo. Having to use a cable to lift a battery... Bad design. Not much you can do. You just need to get them out.

@Benny17441 No doubt you are a talented mechanic to be able to take an engine apart with 3 tools including a hammer. But the true test would be to put the engine back together and make it run using the same tool kit.

That said a hammer is a poor tool choice to crimp a battery cable. And expect a solid serviceable electrical connection.
