For those that have always wanted to install a gate but never had the courage to try, let me tell you that it isn't too difficult at all. I finished a few days ago and took some pictures during the project. You can find them posted on the photo forum on the link below. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty 1981 H33, Rochester, NY

Just one side Ken? :)

Wish I had a dollar for everytime I have thought about tackling that project. Yours looks very nice as does the boat. But sure as I do they will change my slip and I will need it on port. I suppose I could just swap the lifelines side to side. And hope that Hunter made the boat symmetrical. :) Thanks for the pictures, think I'll go and order the parts.

It's in my future Ed

One reason I kept putting it off was the cost. I think the total for one side was about $150 for hardware. After attending the seminar at Boat U.S., I decided to take the plunge. I bought the parts there because they had the crimping tool lending option ($200 deposit). Afterwards, I checked the prices at www.sailnet.com, and found I would have saved about $40 (no sales tax or shipping). You have to be thinking when doing this project. Measure twice, cut once, **crimp the correct part**. Don't ask me how I know the last part of that. Next year I'll do it again, and I am sure it will make like easier when rafting up (we do that once a year) or cruising and taking a dock to port. Good sailing Ed. Ken, S/V Liberty
