Re: A Few New Articles

I have learned so much from your articles over the years of boat ownership. Thanks for all of your very informative posts. I only wish I had seen the SmartPlug write up before replacing my cord and boat receptical last season...Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words Eric!

Sorry about the SP article coming too late. I have been meaning to get to that for a while but another fried shore power cord a few weeks ago drove the final nail in the coffin for the twist-locks....

Hope a book is in the works!

Maine Sail,

I sure hope you are thinking about a boat maintenance / repair book at some point down the road. I'd be the first to order a copy! (Can I get mine autographed?)

Just my 2 cents!

Bob

MS,

I hope you don't mind but I posted your Smart Plug link on another boating forum. Actually, it is on eBoatCards under the "Product Safety" group. Just trying to spread the word around more.

I recently replaced my boat end "in kind" because it had a bit of charring on one leg of the plug. The Admiral and I are going to install a Smart Plug soon. One more reason for the change over for us is we found the cord hanging in the water one day. And you could hear the electricity humming in the water because the shore breaker HAD NOT TRIPPED! As near as we can tell, someone blew past the marina a little faster than the "No Wake" posting and the shifting of the boat popped the locking ring off the boat and the boat end dropped into the water.

Just another nail in the 1938 coffin.

Sigh... I know that alternator bracket needs the upgrade but that's a lot of work (I know it would be worse if it broke). How many hours do you think it should take a "professional" mechanic to make the changes? Any idea?

Thanks for all the articles.
