I have a 1996 OC 281 with in-mast. I have not had problems with it much until this spring. My system is a Z Spar as I think most were in that era. This winter I had the boat on the hard with the mast down. I took that opportunity to replace/rehab the halyard swivel and and reel. My problem is getting the halyard reconnected to the swivel. As you can see in the photo, the clamp consists of the wall of the swivel and a metal bracket. It is secured by tightening the two allen screws. The problem is that as far as I can tell, this all has to be done once the swivel is inside the mast and there is virtually no room to see or work. The first time I did it, the halyard came loose from the clamp when I tried to tighten the sail by really pulling on the halyard (using the winch) and it went over the masthead sheaves.I now have the mast down and have fished the halyard back into place but can't figure out a good way, fool proof way to attach the halyard to the clamp. Has anyone made this installation or have some suggestions?
