A cup of water

Okay, here's one for the serious troubleshooters among ya: Last Sunday, when I was retrieving something from the starboard forward cabin settee panel, I noticed it was a little damp. Hmmm, I thought. That particular part of the storage area was bone dry, but the item had been shoved quite a bit forward. I then went to the storage hatch under the V- berth and opened it, finding about a half gallon of water lying there. I cleaned it with a towel and then immediately poked my head and fingers into every crevace and cranny looking for some kind of leak; but found NOTHING. Not even a drip. We sailed back to the marina that afternoon and, before leaving the boat, I checked the hatch again. Nothing. But, the next morning, I came back to the boat to clean it and found about two cups of water. Searched everywhere but found no leak. Going through the process of elimination, I caulked the thru- hull leading from the sink drain; caulked the sink (since there was a tiny little stream running under this side of the storage and a puddle of water also under the ice chest (not the chest itself, but between the hull and the sole). Dried it all out and waited and waited and waited. No drips. No drops. Nothing. Just checked it again today and there was about a cup of water. No drips. No drops. Nothing. Cleaned it. Waited. Nothing. I'm at a loss. Right now, I'm to the point of thinking: a) it's somehow leaking through something when I wash down the boat (but NOTHING IS WET) b) it's seeping in through osmosis c) it's just condensation from humidity (although someone with the exact same boat is just across from me without the problem) d)it's just plain magic Sorry so long, but wanted to put as many details in as possible. P.S. There isn't any water in my water tank. I drained it to make sure it wasn't the problem

Anchor Locker?

There is a hose that drains the anchor locker to a through hull fitting on the starboard side of the boat. Maybe the hose or onr of the associated clamps. Or perhaps the U bolt in the locker used to raise the mast. It sounds like you are saying it is wet in the front of the boat. If I am reading this correctly those are the places I would check first.

Here's a Clue!!!

An unanswered question. Is your "leak" salt water or fresh water? The old taste test will help you determine the source. GOOD LUCK!

Another troubleshooting method...

Sprinkle some baby powder or flour in the area around the puddle- If there's any 'running' water filling that puddle, then there will be a track through the white powder. Just be sure the Coast Guard doesn't want to do a narcotics check on your boat while you've got all that white powder hidden in your forward hold... ;o) --Jon Bastien H23/H25...

No salt water

That'd be a good test, but I only sail in fresh water lakes. The anchor locker may be an idea, but the water seems to be aft of that. I'll try the baby powder idea. THanks for the help.

Same Problem

I had exactly the same problem which turned out to be the clamp - or lack of - on the outlet of the water tank under the sink. I see you drained the tank but are you sure it is completely empty? I had to remove the tank to get mine completely empty as I could not gain access to the clamp when the tank was installed in the boat. Question - Is this clean water or "lake" water in the storage areas?

It "looks" clean, or fresh; but I can't be 100% sure. I like your idea and I'm going to check there first chance. To tell the truth, I always "THOUGHT" it came from the water tank; but I didn't think of the line feeding up to the sink- which is the line I think you're talking about huh? Looks pretty easy to access. I hope that's it.
