I have a A-symmetrical chute that I want to run on my Hunter 25.5. I'd like to run a 15' pole to extend just beyond the bow. I've looked at conventional alum poles but they are heavy (and expensive). I have made poles for my cat out of carbon wind surfer masts but I think this pole would be to this light and wouldnt hold up trying to move a 7000 lb tub monohaul when a puff hit it. Anyone got ideas on what I can do for a pole? thanks.. Ted

If you're referring to a bowsprit pole that extends from the anchor locker up the anchor prow and 4-6 feet outward, I have perfected just the device using one galvanized plumbing pipe inside another. It throws the asymetrical spin considerably forward of the main, preventing blanketing. I can mail you the color pix and directions if you provide me your ground mail. bodonovan@vagazette.com If however you're referring instead to a traditional spinnaker pole that attaches up the mast and out over the bow to the tack of the spin, then perhaps someone else has advice. Either way, running a spinnaker is the most fun you can have on the sailboat with your clothes on.
