Some years ago as the SCYA Midwinters approached one of our members who sailed a daysailer was getting his "yacht" ready. He kept it in his garage and it was always pristine. He bought new Sampson yachtbraid halyards, Harken Blocks and a bunch of other pricey stuff from a chandlery in MDR we referred to as the Merchant of Venice. He was READY for Saturday. Concurrently he was adding a wing onto his house which we later christened "The Lord Nelson Memorial Auditorium". He arrived home from work on Friday to discover that the contractor had dumped about 10 tons of sand in front of his garage door in readiness for the following Monday.
I signed him on as crew on my boat for the Regatta. Fair Winds...
