Bank account?

There is a used carry-on sitting in our marina with a $315. price tag. Figure about $1500. for an installed unit like my 12K Mermaid. I also have a Cherubini but it is ten feet longer. Finding a place for it can be a problem on an H27. It is almost exactly the size of a standard carton with one inch cut from the height(see Related Link for exact dimensions). You can cut down a box and use it for a template. Given your interior volume you might get by with a 9K. Mine sits in a cabinet in the quarterberth and blows into the salon under the nav table. I ran no duct work. I T'd off the engine water so only had to drill one hole for the water outlet, right through the middle of the bootstripe. Yesterday it was 85 degrees and the humidity was the same. It would have been ninety in here. But it was 72 in the salon and v-berth, and dry. Four summers now, really adds to the enjoyment of the boat.

Got a 5,200 btu window unit for $89.00 including tax. For close to $100.00 purchased the Carry-On A/C canvas hood to be able to place it in the cabin hatch. Put my money on a Honda 2000 generator to enjoy at anchor. When sailing it sits on the storm berth. When the A/C rusts out or breaks I'll push it overboard and get a new one.

No labor.

In 1999 when I bought my 12k Mermaid from Defender it was only around $1100. I did the installation myself. It was not at all difficult. The hardest job was making a shelf that was secure. "Think inverted".

5000 room unit on hunter 27'

Seems different years have different options. My '79 has main cabin hatch which makes for excellent AC mount point.I have 5000 btu room unit which has worked out well here as i live aboard in Fl. Mounting is easy with foam board and metallic duct tape duct to direct air down.MUST use splitter between inlet air and outlet or it won't cool.[3/16"plywood]. If i could figure out how to post fotos i would.
