Hi Folks, Just started the A/C installation on our 84 H 34 I decided to use the under chart table location, and chose a Mermaid 12,000BTU unit w/reverse cycle, so we also will have a heater. First step was to build an empty cardboard box in the dimentions of the a/c unit. Second I removed the door on the cabinet under the chart table, and then (painfull to me) cut the bulkhead at the top of the door opening, back to the port 14 inches. I then cut the bulkhead flush with the bottom left of the door opening. the resulting space is 14-1/2 and 21 inches long. I will not need to interfere with the stifening channel next to the water tank. I am now building a 14x21 platform for the a/c to be bolted to 4" from the sole. I quit at this point. I will advise as the job progresses, and I am taking pictures as I go! John K s/v 50-50

Ducting

John, Just a suggestion. If you haven't already looked at it, I'd suggest aluminum dryer vent hose as ducting to get the air around rather than the coiled plastic usually used. Dryer ducting has lots less internal resistance = more air where you want it. You can then tape bubble wrap hot water heater insulation around it to make sure the air stays cool or hot.
