Did you pay for it?

Can you stop payment? Did you get the title and did you take possession of the boat? You said that you did not register it or insure it. Did you pay for moorage? Did you sign any agreements like for moorage or electricity? Did you hire and pay the diver? Was there any written agreement? Why didn't the diver notice that the transducer fell out? That seems to me to be something he would be aware of and sensitive to. Does he have any insurance? Does the marina have any insurance to cover even a part of the expense like raising the boat? Does the state or other agency require coverage? Have you talked to a lawyer?

Have not talked to any lawyers. I paid cash to the previous owner so I own it. I was 'under the rader' at the municipal marina (long waiting list) so that I could register and insure. Long story short...I spent much$$ on standing rigging and some engine...and lax on registration. My mistakes....no excuses. I do see some negilance on the part of the bottom cleaning contractors. Sure......yes, all part should be in perfect shape. All thru-hull, transducers, and equipment should be in A-Shape. BUT, as an insured professional in any given field, isn't their a responsibility? I mean, shoot.....at_least make sure not taking on water should be on a 'check-list'. For the fee of raising the boat....I'm getting billed...but think I'll fight paying it. I don't know how far I could get with their insurance (quick fact: contractors 2nd year in business and 2nd time sinking boat). I think I can reduce the costs of raising...doubt I can recoup all this cashola on repairs. But I do plan on giving it the good fight. I pasted the link for the whole affiar by pictures in the post about restoring the boat.
