Hey all, new member here, new ODay owner, too. I bought her used last week, and am excited about sailing. I sailed a little bit in the past and this is all new-again to me. The terminology is mind blowing, and I'm feeling like I need some index cards to study up.
Anyhow, here's my question....I was told the boat is a 1978 22' ODay. The sails have a 22 in a circle, which I believe is consistent with that model.
However, when I look on line at other ODay 22s from that era, they all have forward hatches and mine does not.
Was that an option at that time? Hatch vs. no hatch, in other words? Or is it more likely that the boat is not from 1978? I've noticed that the ones built in 1982 have no forward hatch.
I'm really only curious about this. I thought I really wanted that forward hatch, but now I see comments from folks having trouble with the jib moving cleanly in a tack because of the hatch, so maybe it's my good fortune, after all.
Any comments?
