95, H26 wood panels rather than carpet.

I want to put wood panels on my H26 where the carpet runs along the inner walls in the galley and into the v-berth. Preferably a teak and holly to match the deck insert. Has anyone ever seen this or done this? If so what would be the best way to go about it. I have some leave coming up and want a couple projects to work on. Thanks.

Here's a pic of my H26 I bought in May of this year. The PO installed wood panels I think the way you described. It looks to me like flooring material. Initially I wasn't sure I liked it but it has grown on me. One section near the galley looks like water damage, it's kinda warped. So, I plan to replace all with new wood. I'm sure each strip is simply glued on, possibly with flooring adhesive. The color is like a honey oak, matches the head paneling.

I'm interested to see how it comes out, since I plan to re-do mine. Please post pics!

I just sold a 91' Mac 26S and did a lot of mods to it over 10 years. The Macgregorowners site is very active with everyone sharing their projects and ideas. Sadly it doesn't seem like so much here. It would be nice if there was more activity on this site. I plan to post more of what I'll be doing to my H26 and hope it stimulates some activity here.

Right now, I'm finishing up my trailer restoration. The 21 year old frame is in good shape but all the pieces and parts were badly rusted. Even the tires, surprisingly were original! I was worried about making the 60 mile trip home when I bought it. So, to date I haven't even floated the boat yet, but I'm real close. I guess it's appropriate to say I'm starting from the ground up with my repairs and upgrades.

My 24 year old Mac 26S was beautiful when I sold her after all the work I did. It's a testament to what can be done with an old boat. Old boats never die if taken care of and even can be improved.

There is vinyl wood flooring now being offered on the market and wonder if that would be a good material for doing the inside. It should be less costly than actual teak and holly or laminate.

Ive been finishing up a few projects on the boat and plan to do this one next. Ive refinished all the wood and built a vhf/stereo console to fit under the companion way, I threw some led strip's on the bottom and a simple rocker switch to light the steps at night, ill post some pics when everything is installed. Im waiting for my table to cure all the way then will wet sand and polish, I like to add a flush mount charging station in the table if I can figure out a way to run the wiring. Anyway, ill definitely get some pics up.
