Making a note here for future p42s.
I just bought a p42 and completed a complete sanitation system re-do. I left the original tank in for now, but re-did all the hoses and new toilets.
I did a freshwater conversion with the Raritan Marine Elegance.
I got this model from Hodges, which at this time had the best price and was delivered in 1-2 days.
You want the Bone color. It matches pretty well.
The toilet does fit in the forward bathroom fine. The aft overhangs the step by about 1in. I am in the process of making a wooden extension to bolt on to extend the step that 1in.
I ordered..
9ft of Item Name: Raritan Sani/Flex Sanitation Hose White 1 1/2" By the Foot
35ft Item Name: Raritan Sani/Flex Sanitation Hose White 1" By the Foot
Raritan Marine Elegance - Household Style - Bone - Freshwater Solenoid - Smart Toilet Control - 12v - RAR220AHF012
Note: I had maybe 5-6 ft left over of the 1in. But I ordered this much to be safe for screw-ups / mis measures.
TEFLON/PTFE GREASE IS YOUR FRIEND. You coat the interior of the hose with this where you want to join with a coupling or hose barb.
It was a real pain to fish the power lines / move them from the step to the cabinets next to the toilets to put the electronics.
I used the old hoses to pull the new hoses through with rope. I'm not sure how i would have done if I couldn't use the old hoses. I did attach rope and used that to pull, and I left the rope in place 2x the length to fish things back and forth if I ever need to do this in the future. I don't think I will ever consider any other hose other than the Raritan SaniFlex. Its amazing.
I drilled out the old mounting holes and filled with thickened epoxy.
Forward Head
Disaster Area.
Here is the clearance for the forward toilet. You can also see how the bone color matches. You want the bone on this boat for sure.
I ran the freshwater from the sink and drilled a hole through the cabinet to run a fresh water line.
TODO: Add better freshwater phot for forward head.
Aft Head
For the AFT toilet to KISS for now. I had to make a disaster of a fitting to get the plumbing to fit. The forward was easier than the aft.
It was a real problem getting everything run / re routed. Both the power and the hoses come though this hole.
I ended up using glow in the dark fish-tape and a lot of patience to fish rope though to be used to pull lines though.
I ended up "U Turning" the power lines into the cabinet for the electronics. it was too hard to route wires directly. What i mean by this is I crimped on a length of wire where the wires came out originally, and ran that into the cabinet, almost making a crimped U turn. All oversized and marine waterproof connectors.
I drilled a hole next to the toilet for the fresh water and power. You can see I screwed up... Thank god you cant really see it.
I left the old salt water intake hoses for now in case I want to add saltwater in the future with the dual flush feature.
OK so this part for the aft toilet is really stupid... I mistakenly drilled a hole that lines up with the toilet properly... However... THERE IS A F**CKin BULKHEAD between the original hole and the new one... so NO you CAN NOT easily route the sanitation hose to where it should be.
So I ended up with this monstrosity for now. With a big sign that says. You clog it, you UN-Clog it. I do plan on revising this.
Anyway. The boat smells so much better now and thanks to the infamous Head Mistress for all the information here on the forums.
I'll take better photos and come back and update now that the project is complete and all cleaned up. This was more of a "brain dump" than a write up. So apologies for it being fragmented.
