*grr I don't know if I am going to make it. Snow, cold days, long nights and the lake is frozen!!! I need a fix of sunshine and warm water with a steady breeze. We are off to Maui tomorrow!

Sauna time

The high today was O with a wind chill of -15, great weather. I visited Finland 2 years ago and they have 6 months of darkness and gloom, I asked how do they survive the winters. Sauna's,every house has a sauna and they just go in and get hot and forget about the weather out side. I have a sauna in my basement, and you know what, it's no maui but I feel just great after a relaxing sweat, and shower. 90 days til spring isn't enough time for me to get all my projects done before sailing season. A sauna a day keeps the winter blues way.

Even San Diego doen't help.

Only 90 days? I hope its sooner. I am visiting my daughter in San Diego. Nice place! But I miss MY sailboat, an Oday 322 sitting in its cradle near Sandusky, Ohio. Yes, the sun is shining here and the temp is in the 60's, but it only makes my heart want to be sailing in Western Lake Erie.

Al, you're from the #1 team, Tonawanda

I remember well, the sticker on the valve cover of my 425hp big block when I bought my new 69 Camaro. "Built by the #1 Team, Tonawanda. You didn't work there did you?

It just ain't right!

:( Went outside this morning, and Kon-Tiki ('84 M25) was glazed over with ice, 'sicles hanging down from every inch of her gunwales. If a boat could ever look "sad", she sure did. Soon as the weather breaks above 60 for a couple of days, she's getting her new bottom paint and returning to her moor ASAP thereafter!

It is just awful!!!

I had to wear a jacket sailing on Mobile Bay Saturday. When it's down to 60 with wind it gets chilly!!!! And then the problem that it's too hot when the sun is shinning but you have to put the coat back on when there are clouds. It was warm and sunny in the morning with little breeze. Then a line of clouds brought wind but it felt a lot cooler. The worst part is the water temp in Mobile bay is about 50 but at the sea buoy about 80 miles south the water temperature is 70.... Can't wait for spring!!!!!! It's just not natural to drink hot coffee and tea when sailing...natural is cold beer or iced tea!!!!

yes,

But there is still sailing to do in winter. Did you ever heard about ice-boats. A sailboat on scats, cool stuff they can "sail up to 60 m/h. Do any one have such a beast, I’m thinking of getting me one of this, since my Mac 26 D seats with snow on her.

... still jet-lagged! Fantastic. ;D Mid-summer there, with sailing on Wellington harbor with my brother, and cruising in the Bay of Islands. And we came back to this cold - we gotta be crazy!!! *cry
