I have a question on the subject furler. Recently I found a couple bolts and plastic ground up in the anchor locker under the 810 mounted below deck. Looked at the manual and its obviously the centering clamp. Appears that the furling unit has dropped down several inches. Have read that this clamp has two purposes, 1 to keep the system centered on the lower end and 2 to position the system on the front stay.
My question(s):
Is it possible to replace the clamp by pushing the whole system up and then letting it back down on the newly assembled clamp. I can see possibly 6 to 8 inches of the front stay up top.
What part of the assembly actually sits on the clamp to adjust the position of the furler. I put my finger up into the bottom of the lower housing and its just smooth bore as far as my business finger will reach.
When installing the clamp, do you drop the bottom cover, then raise the fuller and install the clamp under the bearing housing or do you raise the entire furling assy and let it back down on the clamp.
The exploded drawing I have just doesnt give the detail that I can glean out of it.
