I have a 9.9 Nissan 4stroke elec start do I need to keep a battery on it or can I tape up the battery cables and old school rope start it , what's the best place to put the battery on a 22 macgregor ? And where is the best place to mount the bilge pump and float switch , and the depth transducer ? Thanks

If its anything like my 8hp Nissan two stroke with electric start, it won't care if there's a battery there or not. If you decide not to use the electric start, just make sure the cables are isolated from each other and anything else that could possible conduct electricity. Remember that you have an alternator on that engine and it will be backfeeding electricity through the cables once its going. You don't want anything near the cables that could complete a circuit.
