I went up the mast again (third time) today. Fortunately it gets a little easier each time but I will need to go again. I am trying to get my masthead light to work. I tried new bulbs but nothing. Using a multimeter I got around 10 to 11 volts at the bub socket but no light. I'm assuming there is some corrosion somewhere in the wiring. Has anyone had any experience with the wiring going to the top of the mast - is it attached to the mast, where does it enter the mast, etc. I am going to start trying to troubleshoot from below before making the climb again. How difficult would it be to replace the old wiring with new?

I had problems with my mast lighting so I pulled the mast; because it was going to be a lot simpler that way. All it connections were corroded, wire was brutal too. So I ran all new wire, lights and plugs. The plugs were four way trailer plugs from the auto supply store. It only took a afternoon from sailing.

P.S. Pull the new wire with the old.
