Need to replace all 3 of my house batteries. Any thoughts of Deka vs Trojan, or any other batteries to consider? Boat presently has Gel batteries that were made in Germany, perhaps installed by Hunter?

Thanks

Andy

Deka actually makes the Trojan GEL (shhh don't tell anyone) The Sonnenschein Prevailer is the only other GEL I would recommend other than the Deka made product. Lauderdale Battery is the importer of the Prevailer and one of the largest GEL dealers in the US, and they have very competitive shipping rates.....

OMG
I replaced my 2 -4-D's with 4 -6 volt Trojans wet cell and so easy much lighter and not a big deal adding fluid every now and than and way less$$$.
And I have been much happier with the 6 Volt and they seam to do a better job than my 4-D's
but that is just me.

I'm with seadaddler - for about the price of ONE trojan 8D gel you can get six 6v golf cart batteries. What's an 8D? something like 225AH? 6 GC2s would be something like 670 AH. - IOW, your bank capacity would be the same with 6 6v batteries as with your 3 8Ds. But it's around a third of the price. A normal human can lift them in and out of the boat. You can buy them anywhere.

Of course flooded batteries have drawbacks too; including they're a bit taller than an 8D, you need to water them, they don't last long upside down, and your charger needs to have the right charge profile for them.
