While replacing the packing in my plastic stuffig box today the back of the box broke out = causing a few ancious moments!! Has anyone else had the plastic stuffing box fail on them? I will be talking to the local yards tomorrow for quotes on a new brass stuffing box, engine mounts and possible engine mounts. I guess 12 years of service on the old box is not bad. Good time to upgrade!

Randy: This is a good time to upgrade your stuff box to a dripless unit. Less than $200 and it is done.

I am curious, how did you stop the leak and which stuffing box did you decide on and how did that installation go? Thanks
