I am also considering removing the alcobhol stove and filling that space with a refrigerator. Anyone out there with a 83/88 31 ever do this? I am wondering if anyone can spit the dimensions of that space at me so I can plan before actually getting to the boat. Thanks Dave Calico Sky 2

Think about resale.

Dave: 1. Why don't you just use the built in ice box on the boat? 2. If you want AC only refrigeration, just purchase a cheap bar refrigeration and gut the components and put inside the icebox. 3. Remember, you may think that this is a good idea, but the person that purchases your boat may not purchase your boat if favor of an unmodified boat.

H31_83-87 Refrigeration

I have a 87 H31, I installed a cold plate refrigeraton by AvXcel, website is http://www.avxcel.com/. It was simple to install and works GREAT. The middle of my ice box stays at 35 Deg F and the top next to the door stays at 45 Deg F, anything next to the evaporator will freeze solid. I installed the "condenser" in the Starboard Laz and mounted it on the back of the ice box, ran the tube into the box and into the "cold plate" (evaporator). Unit does not require more ventilation than the starboard laz already has, uses 4 Amps to get down to temp and draws 1 Amp to maintain (that is the spec that they stated and I checked it with an amp meter for weeks to test their specs and they were correct). I have had the unit running continuously for the last 6 months and has performed perfectly! If you would like more info on my install, e-mail me as listed on the H31 Owners listing.
