I plan to purchase new sails for my O'day 222. We will be cruising the Chesapeake Bay and perhaps enter a Club race occasionally. For single handling purposes I would like to change the roller furling mechanism to a new one such as CDI. Will changes have to be made to accommodate a 150, 135 or 120 genny? Will this be too much foresail for a 222? While your at it, what would be the best sail weight and please send me a quote for the foresail and main. Give me a price on the genny or jib that is correct for cruising please. Thanks.

Hi John - In looking at your post, you appear to be looking for actual quotes for sails for your boat. I suggest you look at the Related link below and contact the Chandlery Master here to get a quote on sails for your boat. Alternatively, you could contact a local loft. As for sail selection, I'm not sure of your intended use, but new 135% genoa likely will be all you'll need. I'm not intimately familiar with your cruising area or how much you'll be racing, but a 135& genny is typically enough sail area for moderate breezes but can still be roller reefed to 100% or less in a blow. Best of luck, Trevor

222 Genoa

John. I would recommend a 135% 5oz genoa for your boat. It is almost as powerful as a 150% but easier to handle. The Main should be built out of the same weight cloth. Aside from installing the furling unit you should not have to make any major mods to the boat. Go to the chandlery on this website to get pricing. Thanks, Bill Colombo Doyle Sailmakers
