So along with the deck organizer I see the traveler has seen better days. It's still functional but on my upgrade list. Problem is we see here too the bolts for the mid boom traveler do not come through the cabin top. It's an odd manufature, can't remember the name but the bolt holes are on 3" centers and it's about 67" long (flat and strait) I'd like to put on harken gear (although not closed to other options) but the track does not match. The existing is an "I" beam style. All the Harken track attach holes are on 4" centers. Any great ideas on how to change this out. I've thought of just drilling and taping the existing track and adding the harken track on top. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Harken is an excellent choice

Tom: Harken is an excellent choice. They will custom drill a track for you. You need to contact them for the procedure. We did this over 10 years ago on our H'31. It turned out to be a very good investment. Still works like the day it was installed. Another option may be Garhauer Marine in Southern Ca. They will also do custom drilling. They have very nice stuff at very reasonable prices. They are usually at the Sail Expo show, so you may want to visit them at the show. Have you had your boat in Antioch for a while? I have seen Tom's Lil'Sea, but do not remember another H'34 there!

H34 Recent Purchase

We just purchased our H34 in January and moved her to Antioch on the first of February. We're on C dock accross from Lil'Sea. She's currently named "Habenula" but a renaming cerimony is in her near future. I've spoken to Harken about customer drilling, they seemed to warn me off on cost??

Once the weather breaks, I'll be installing a Harken windward sheeting car w/ variable hole track on an h28.5. The previous one is as you describe: 3" holes and the last 4 to starboard were hidden behind the wall in the head. They were exposed for removal of the old track and now there's sufficient access to torque the new retaining nuts; the holes will eventually be covered w/ a strip of teak trim (almost OEM). This was a lot easier than having holes custom drilled and with the high profile track (designed as a 'spanning track') I really only need the last 4 bolts on each end. I'll still use 'em all and fill with caulk, just to help prevent leaks. Almost balmy in the Windy today! Sping is just around the corner (cross fingers). Take care.

Grizz OUCH!

One of my biggest disappointments during the rebuild of our boat was when Harken told me that I couldn't use a windward sheeting car. Cockpit only! Damn.
