Hi all -- I busted the sheeve in the starboard cheak block this past weekend. Guess its time to replace em anyway. Is it possible to just replace the sheeve ? Any source for a replacement for either the sheeve or the whole block ? Thanks in advance Duane I

Because the axel is peened over. Lewmar makes the exact replacement that fits the fastener holes and the glassed in backing plate exactly. Their called Lewmar Ocean Foot Blocks. I don't remember the size, but the can tell you if you measure the distance from the fasteners.

I replaced just the sheeve
I gorund off the peened over part of the pin on the backside with a dremmel tool. Then found a replacement sheeve. Then when I installed the block I put the pin in from the bottom instead of the top. When mounted the boat holds the pin captive and the pin extends just flush with the top surface. Not perfect, but it works and was alot cheaper then new blocks. And if it does not work, you can still buy the new ones.

Im curious as to the price of the Lewmar blocks, as I really dont have time to send my old block in to have it matched by Garhauer -- If I had the time, that would be the way I go. Heck if push comes to shove, Ill try to replace the sheave -- also a good idea. My time crunch (and money crunch) comes from the fact that I will be receiving my new Simrad WP30 wheelpilot tomorrow. Cant wait to get that installed and checked out. I know Steve has one -- and from all Ive read here, it seems like more trouble-free for the buck. Thanks again. Duane
