1984 Hunter 34 – attempting to resole the main cabin floor, what is best way to take out present rotted floor? I am going to attempt to resole the main cabin floor on a 1984 Hunter 34. *o*o I have never done this kind of work before, so before I start anything I have a ton of questions. The sole is really soft, and pretty much rotted away. I am wondering how the floor is attached? Is it just screwed in or is it screwed in and glued in? I would like to take the old floor up and then hopefully use it as a template for the new floor. If anyone has any experience (or suggestions) on how to take the old floor out on a 1984 Hunter 34, I would really appreciate any advise or expertise you would be willing to share with me. Many thanks!

After you take out everything above the wood

look for teak plugs that hide the screws holding down the floor. Take out the screws and the wood is easy to lift. But if your 84 was built like our 86, no amount of twisting and turning is going to get the large starboard floor out of the boat. It was laid before the deck was installed so plan on cutting it after it's up. That also means an extra cut for the new wood. Sorry for the news but it's fun work,,,honest! :)
