On my 272 and 322, it's a small maybe 3/4" diameter plastic tube that is connected to the fitting feeding fuel to your engine. The problem with it is there's a screen in it about 2" or so up from the bottom. Just take the fuel line off the fitting on the tank, and unscrew the fitting from the tank. Lift it up, and the pickup tube is attached. Grab that #$%^* screen out of there and throw it as far as you can! If you don't have a screen in that tube, you're fine. No maintenance required.
