Reviewed archives and found several entries from 2002 on this topic, and one in 2004 with no relevent replies. I'm looking for someone who has actually completed this replacement effort. In a recent bilge cleaning/painting spree I discovered a large amount of rust and rust flakes (up to 1/8 inch thick) in the bilge in the area of the compression post. Upon further investigation, it appears there is much more corrosion. For those interested, the H36 has a 4" steel post between the keel and the salon deck, with what looks like a pair of fir 2x6s between the salo deck and the cabin top. The steel post has a v-shaped steel plate on top on which the salon deck rests. The bottom of the post is fiber glassed into the bilge area. I have no idea at this point how far in the post goes.Looking for contacts with someone who has already dealt with this.If you have a 80-82 H36, I recommend you check your boat. You can see the backside of it by removing the forward bilge cover and looking forward in the bilge. The forward side of the post is only visible if you remove the shower drain pan (which might be difficult to remove). Thanks Pete
