Hi All,
Am getting ready to repower my '81 H27 (upgrading from a 1GM to a 2QM15). Between pulling the old engine and installing the new one I figured I'd go ahead and replace the fuel tank. However, I don't have the dimensions of the tank. Would like to order it and have it onhand prior to tearing everything apart and taking the boat out of service for longer than necessary. Would anyone happen to know the tank dimensions? Or point me in the right direction to look for them? Thanks in advance!

Does your 81 H27 have a plastic or aluminum tank? My 84 H27 12 gallon tank is plastic and other than being a bit opaque is in great shape. To remove the tank would require some boat surgery. Perhaps with the engine out you could cut out the aft bulkhead between the engine and the tank area to gain access.

Yes, removing the tank requires removing the engine. I am well aware of this. Since I'm repowering the boat it only makes sense to take care of the fuel tank now. My tank is an aluminum 12-Gal. tank.

Google and check with Inca Molded Products in Nashville TN. They supplied fuel tanks for boat manufacturers in the 80s. They might have the tank specs on file or at the very least direct you to who might have them. Last I heard they had merged with another company but that they were still in the same business.
