Hello all,

I just replaced my forward hatch cover. It was 3/4" acrylic that finally broke when it was partially open..

For $120 I had a beautiful new hatch! (BTW Laird Plastics rocks...look them up)

I am now looking to replace the companionway cover. i am afraid this might go soon. The guy at Laird said shaping a 1/2" piece of acrylic taht large is nearly impossible.

Any other ideas what I may want to do? I know there are not many "A" owners out there, would a "B" model fit?

Any other "A" owners drop me a line...maybe we can share some tips!

My forward hatch on my 8.0c just broke this week at the hinge. What color/tint did you end up getting? I see Laird Plastics has locations throughout the country. Which location did you go through to get yours replaced?

Thanks.

That's exactly the part I installed last night. I bought mine at the Detroit location. I dropped it off at lunchtime Wednesday and picked it up after work Thursday. I just bought the cut and polished plastic. I installed the hardware myself. He gave me a great tip for cutting threads, drill the holes small and heat the screws. It worked flawlessly. Let me know if you have any other questions. I went with the clear, I can't believe how clean it looks!

The previous owner of my boat had the companionway cover fabricated. He essentially built a jig himself in the shape the cover had to melt to. He gave it to them and they put the sheet of acrylic on it in a huge oven and melted it to shape. They then machined the edges appropriately. From what he said it was nothing he wanted to go through again and it was expensive as hell.
