Good evening all. I cut a hole into the space below my anchor locker looking for water intrusion. What I found was Lancer had sealed the space with what looks to be a high density foam that was very hard in some places. I spent three days drilling, chiseling, and using acetone to remove the "foam" and gain access to the U-bolt. Water had indeed seeped in and almost completely deteriorated the lower SS nut holding the U-bolt in place. Note: in the fourth photo the top nut is fully intact but in the fifth photo the little dark nub is what was left of the SS nut.
I still need to over drill the holes and then pack them with epoxy before drilling and installing a new U-bolt. I'll then install a plastic port for future access to the back of the U-bolt. Steve
