In one of her previous lives, Orion was owned by a live aboard. I have no details of that chapter other than a sorry excuse for galley cabinets. Evidently, a microwave was important, and the re-design centered on that feature. Besides using low grade plywood and taking up 1/3 of the space for the MW, the balance of the layout leaves me scratching my head. I'm referring to the cabinets behind the stove and icebox above the countertop. Since I have never seen the original layout, I cannot comment on it's efficiency. However, I would like to see an original layout of a 1978 H30 if anyone out there has a photo or photos. And I would like feedback on whether it makes sense to re-create the original. Or, perhaps I should step into the abyss and do something new without historical constraints.

has a very similar galley layout, except that the stove area is different. (sorry, I don't have any photos). We have an Origo 2-burner alcohol, gimballed stove to the left of the sink. Behind the sliding plexi-glass panels are shelves which will hold glasses, but not large enough for dinner plates. The layout is good enough for week-ending, but would not be sufficient for living aboard. Good luck on your project.
