I've removed the quaterbearth wall on several occasions on my 1978 H27 in order to replace hoses and service the shaft. The wall is made of plywood with a laminate covering. It's rectangle shaped and has two vertical battens on the back side (kind of like sign posts). The battens are screwed to the back of the plywood and are about 6" longer than the plywood is wide. The ends of the battons are screwed to the side of cabin pan with 8 brass phillips wood screws. Take the screws out and the wall lifts out. Hope this helps

How did you get to the screws on the battens?

Aren't they going into the cabin pan from the engine side of the wall? If so, I don't see a way to get to them.

Bend a little or a lot

I had to be a little bit of a contortionist to stick my head and sholders into the area through the service panel but it wasn't too bad.
