This is the strongest wind I have seen on the Great Lakes in a while. 133 km/h=73 kts; 107 km/h = 59 kts. "This is a warning that damaging winds are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A rapidly intensifying low pressure system is tracking northeastward across central Ontario this morning. A strong cold front accompanying this feature is quickly moving across southern Ontario and is accompanied by severe winds. The strongest wind reported so far is over eastern Lake Ontario where Point Petre reported a wind gust to 133 km/h. Another intense wind gust passed through Toronto which gusted to 107 km/h."

Had to redo the boat cover this morning.

Wow - I don't think I have ever seen the wind this high (except maybe for Hurricane Hazel way back when).

You know - Lake Ontario was flat on this side.

Higgs - what was it like on the other side? The marine forcast reported 12-15 foot waves in the forecast, but that would have to be way out from our shore.

I checked on my L35 3 times yesterday. I have the mast supported on deck, and a good quality tarp over the boat. The tarps held quite well, but the boat was jiggling and shaking far more than I was comfortable with. Here at KYC, it was a steady 40-50knts during the mid day, and many of the boats are wintered on our breakwall, which get the brunt of these winds. Windy!

i dont think fred was joking

i'd have been on the water. we hit 35-50 here before turkey day and i was 1 of 2 boats on the whole lake (the other being the sheriff's)and they were having trouble hanging on. you should'nt take a pond skiff out in a gale not a good idea. they watched for a while but turned tail and ran when the waves started capping
