Ray, I have an st6000 autopilot connected to my laptop running capn voyager. I'm sending APA and APB from the laptop, but the autopilot only appears to be getting cross track error. I am assuming this because I get no confirmation when reaching a waypoint. Once I pass the waypoint, the XTE starts to increase and the boat will slowly come back on course. Ok for coastal cruising, but not for the CCC. This problem arose last year when I send the 6000 in for repairs. The output MOSFET's were blown and replaced. It had been working with only the APA sentence prior to sending for repairs. If I send APA or APB alone, I get a no data error message. Any thoughts as to what might be going on? Which 6000 Autopilot

The Type 100/300 Course Computers need Bearing to the waypoint, Cross Track Error and Waypoint number in order to properly track a route. APA will provide XTE and Waypoint Number, but not Bearing to Waypoint. You will need to have both APA and APB on. Is this an ST6000 or an ST6000 ? How old is the system? Do you know what version of software you have? Does the Captain have any other NMEA options for baud rate, version, etc. You would want to have these set for NMEA 0183 V1.5 at 4800 baud.

added info

Bill, Sorry, but it took me a while to get all the added info. I have an ST 6000 with a model 300 course computer. Software version is 11, 165P14. The NEMA interface is set at 4800 baud, I know the interface works since the coourse computer is getting XTE information. However, it is not receiving the Bearing to Waypoint info. The St6000 display shows --- when displaying this info. The Cap'n uses V 2.X and has no options to select a lower version. Since you indicated the NEMA had to be V1.5, I can only assume there must be some changes between V1.5 and V2.X in the APA andn APB sentences. Is there a software upgrade that would allow the 300 course computer to use NEMA V2.X? I will also check with Nautical Technolgies regarding the NEMA version option. thanks in advance for your help. Bryce
