6 month old Trinidad SR bottom job

I had a bottom job done aprox. 6 months ago with Trinidad Sr, which is hard antifouling. I had to have my boat hauled and the hull looks great but the keel was covered in barnicles(74 O'Day 23 with a bolted on keel). It makes me think that the boatyard that did the bottom job did not prepare the keel properly. So at the very least the keel needs to be painted. I am wondering about the longevity of this paint and if I should recoat the entire hull while the boat is out of the water. It seems that if the paint still has a year or more of usefull life I would be wasting time, labor and money recoating now if all the copper has not leached out? I know that with ablative paint I another coat would be fine as it wears away, and would prolong the usefull life. I guess I wondering if it is the same with hard paint, or if I would be just sealing in good paint.

Trinidad still needs hull cleaning

In Florida, I still get my boat's hull cleanned every month, even with Trinidad paint. SR is not worth the extra cost - or that is the consensus around here, or at most use it at the water line. (I suppose this will depend on where you keep the boat.) Most people get at least 2 years out of Trinidad around here - it depends on how often you clean and how many coats where applied. If the keel is in bad shape, it will need to be stripped, primed and painted, not just painted.

Lightning Strike?

Someone told me a lightning strike even one nearby will zap all of the copper out of the bottom paint on anything metal. He may have been blowing smoke and I am not sure I believe it either. Just passing it along for what it is worth.
